Look Magazine

Presentation of Andrew YARROW’s documentary project on LOOK magazine

This event will provide an opportunity to discover a work currently in development, linked to Andrew YARROW’s 2021 book Look: How a Highly Influential Magazine Helped Define Mid-Twentieth-Century America, which focuses on LOOK, the iconic American magazine published between 1937 and 1971. At the intersection of media history and documentary cinema, this project explores the cultural, political and visual influence of this major 20th-century publication.

The presentation will open with a brief introduction to the history and significance of LOOK, followed by the screening of a 22-minute film and a 2-minute trailer. These elements form a preliminary stage of a larger project, including a film about Pat Carbine, who edited the magazine during its final years, as well as a feature-length film focusing on the articles, photographs, editorial teams and the impact of LOOK in mid-20th-century America.

Details available on the MaCI website.
